Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival 9-Day, 17th Edition Starts June 22

The nine-day Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival returns to Rochester June 22 to June 30, presenting more than 1500 artists from around the world in 300-plus shows at 20 venues.

The festival's 17th edition is presented in three series—the Club Pass series with 214 shows, the Headliner series of six shows and 97 free shows and events—all held within walking distance in Rochester’s East End Cultural and Entertainment District.

Ticketed headliner shows will feature Alison Krauss (sold out), Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Boz Scaggs, Jill Scott, Lake Street Dive, and Seal. The Club Pass series will feature the Joey Alexander Trio, Mindi Abair, Melissa Aldana, The Bad Plus, Ron Artis II & The Truth, Joe Locke Group, Michael Mwenso, Jazzmeia Horn, Dustbowl Revival, Shake Stew, Robin McKelle Deva Mahal, Johannes Linstead Guitar of Fire! Eric Krasno Band, Jane Bunnett & Maqueque and more than 110 others. Free shows on 5 outdoor stages. 97 free shows and events. Headliners include Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot!, St. Germain, Tower of Power 50th Anniversary Tour, and Vintage Trouble .

More Highlights

Jam Sessions are held nightly from 10:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Rochester. You never know who will come to play! No cover charge. Youth Jazz Workshops- are free, for grade school and high school music students, five structured jazz workshops give young music students the opportunity to play and meet, listen to and learn from professional jazz musicians performing at the festival. Featuring Artists from 20 Countries

As one of the world’s leading international jazz festivals, artists will travel to Rochester from 20 countries including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Cuba, England, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Indonesia, Japan, Norway, Poland, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States. The festival’s two international series include: Made in the UK, now in its 11th year, showcases artists from the UK. and Nordic and Euro Jazz Now, in its 11th year will present artists from Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Faroe Islands and Iceland.


Tickets for headliner shows and Club Passes are available online at RochesterJazz.com or call (585) 454-2060 or at the Ticket Shop at 100 East Avenue at the corner of Gibbs St. is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F now through June 21 and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 22 to 30.

Club Pass Series Shows: cash only $30 or $35 at the door, or enter with the Club Pass. No advance sales on individual shows. First-come, first-served for all patrons. 9-Day Club Pass: unlimited access to all Club Pass Series shows for all nine days. Not good for headliner shows. See as many shows and come and go as you like. $244 plus service charges. 3-Day Club Pass: unlimited access to all Club Pass shows on any three days during the festival. Not good for headliner shows. $194 plus service charges.

Food, Parking, Merchandise, Travel Info and More

A wide variety of food trucks, and food and beverage vendors are at the festival on Main St., and East Ave., and at several Club Pass venues. There are also many great restaurants in the festival area.

Ample parking (garages and lots, fees apply) is available all around the festival.

All XRIJF venues are accessible. Accessible portable bathrooms are located near outdoor stages. The free Harris Beach Shuttle is wheelchair accessible.

M&T Bank ATMs are available in multiple locations.

About the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (XRIJF)

XRIJF was founded in 2002 and is produced by John Nugent and Marc Iacona. The Festival has become one of the nation's most respected music festivals, navigating all genres of creative improvised music. This year’s nine-day festival, June 22 to June 30, will feature 1500 artists from 20 countries who will perform at 20 venues in more than 300 concerts including 94 free shows and events.
