The April issue of Rode Island Monthy Magazine features an article by Rob Mariani on Bovi's town Tavern, where every Monday night for the last 30 years, thre has been live jazz with a 17-piece big band.

Located in the unpretentious little town of East Providence, Rhode Island, Bovi's has provided a venu for the Duke Bellaire Orchestra since 1965. Bellaire's group has been replaced on all but the first Monday night of each month by the John Allmark Orchestra but the music has never stopped.

When Bellaire tried to enter the statistic into the GuinessBook of World Records he was told there was no such category as “world's longest one-night stand."

The Rhode Island Monthly article describes the no-frills, “film-noir" atmosphere at Bovi's-- like a 1940's road house and describes the caliber of musicians in the band as “first rate." Players come from as far away as New York City , Boston, and Connecticut to sight read the charts in the Allmark band. Guest artists passing through the area make it a point to come to Boivis to sit in.

Cover charge at Boivi's is $3, the drinks are cheap and the popcorn is free.
