One can say that this Album is the work of a group of musical alchemists who, by blending different styles and genres, give life to masterful compositions... ...a journey through a vast and colourful soundscape, precisely fused with flamenco, candombe, tango, and African and Middle Eastern influences..

Questioni di Pensiero (Matters Of Thought): A Genre-Bending Journey Through Contemporary Jazz

Italian jazz collective Threegonos - Modern Jazz Unity, led by visionary bassist Toni Armetta, unveils their highly anticipated second studio album, Questioni di Pensiero (Matters Of Thought), a sonically adventurous project rooted in modern jazz and expanded by global influences. This groundbreaking album, physically launched on May 31st and presented live at Rome's prestigious Alexander Platz, is a testament to two decades of artistic evolution and boundary-pushing musical exploration.

The album is available on all digital platforms since July 29th, and released under the label, MIA Progetto Musica—Millenium Music Collection.

Formed nearly 20 years ago by Armetta, The Threegonos – Modern Jazz Unity has evolved into a dynamic sextet featuring some of Italy's most active and talented musicians. Their unique sound, predominantly composed and arranged by Armetta, has captivated audiences at renowned festivals including Villa Celimontana, Jazz Festival at Villa Lazzaroni, Praja JazzFestival, and Jazz Image-Colosseo, consistently earning critical praise and public adoration.

Questioni di Pensiero follows their successful 2023 debut, Return to 80th Street, both released under the MIA Progetto Musica—Collana Millenium Music label. This new album is a vibrant tapestry of sounds, where intricate melodies and expansive harmonies intertwine with rhythms that shift from tight precision to sprawling expansiveness. It's a masterful fusion where the improvisational heart of jazz meets a myriad of modern sonic landscapes, creating a fluidity and variety that is constantly engaging and evocative.

The album features a stellar lineup: Toni Armetta (bass), Giuseppe Russo (sax), Edoardo “Edo” Petretti (synth and accordion), Ludovico “Ludo” Piccinini (guitars), Umberto Vitiello “Maracatumbi” (voice and percussion), and Danilo Ombres (drums and tabla). It also includes guest appearances from Paolo Innarella (soprano sax) and Gabriella Aiello (voice).

From “Questioni di Pensiero" to “Walking Through The Black Market," each of the ten tracks showcases the band's commitment to expressive freedom and sophisticated virtuosity without sterile technicality. The music of The Threegonos defies borders, and has been described by Argentine Musicologist Mariano Busnelli, as:

“The work of a group of musical alchemists.”

“A whirlwind musical journey through a vast and colourful soundscape, precisely fused with flamenco, candombe, tango, and African and Middle Eastern influences into a cohesive and captivating modern jazz framework."

Questioni di Pensiero is more than just an album; it's an auditory adventure that invites listeners to explore the boundless possibilities of contemporary jazz. Don't miss this essential addition to any music lover's collection.
