Vinyl Me, Please (VMP) today announces VMP Anthology: The Story of Quincy Jones to celebrate the music, film and TV producer, musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, performer and all-around living legend, Quincy Jones. This exclusive, limited-edition vinyl box set takes listeners on an immersive experience through Jones’ nearly seven decades long career working alongside the biggest names and hottest genres—from bebop to pop, rap to jazz, Miles Davis to Michael Jackson, Ray Charles to Frank Sinatra.
VMP Anthology: The Story of Quincy Jones is made up of eight albums across 12LPs, selected by VMP and Jones himself, and is limited to just 1,000 pressings. Each record comes on 180g exclusive color vinyl and is housed in a commemorative box designed by Grammy-nominated artist and photographer Mathieu Bitton. The first six titles are AAA-mastered from tapes, with lacquers cut by Ryan Smith and Barry Grint, and the final two are mastered from the highest quality digital masters available. The Anthology is accompanied by a Listening Notes booklet written by Ashley Kahn featuring a visual journey through Quincy Jones ephemera, and a four-episode podcast series to serve as a definitive guide to each album.
“Asking me to pick my favorite album is like asking me to pick my favorite child! Impossible! But, I'm excited to highlight some of the defining moments of my musical career with Vinyl Me, Please,” said Quincy Jones. “It's such a trip walking down memory lane and reflecting on the stories and long nights in the studio. Absolutely beautiful. I'll never forget my beloved collaborators, and this box set wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of them! Hope y'awl enjoy!”
“VMP has spent the past year collaborating closely with Quincy Jones to capture all the strains of his varied work over his illustrious career, including his adventurous work in R&B in the '80s, his jazz work in the '50s and '60s, and masterpieces in film scoring and arrangement,” said Courtney Catagnus, VMP’s Senior Director of Business Development & Partnerships. “We are all incredibly proud to share this Anthology with the world and can’t think of an artist more worthy of the VMP Anthology treatment.”
