With a voice as silky as his trumpet playing, Ilya Serov casts a seductive spell on his debut album, September in the Rain.
The Los Angeles-based Serov possesses that rare gift of being able to sing as well as utilize the trumpet with graceful precision. Such a talent is not common, and Serov employs both in equal measures. Other trumpeters would have produced a record of chilled-out instrumentals; however, Serov ventures further, combining the icy trumpeting of Chet Baker with the soulful crooning of Michael Bublé.
