New York TRIANGO, a fertile Euro-American trio mesh up in jazz improvisation flavored with tango, a taste of Central European schmaltz, echoes of classical and contemporary music, folk music influences, playing based on a detailed research of sources but also on a maximum creativity where stylistic distance provides an extraordinary and observant insight, all this enriching the music of De Caro brothers, Villoldo, Gobbi and Piazzolla. Consisting of Peter Breiner, piano; Stano Paluch, violin and Boris Lenko on accordion, TRIANGO is aware of the fact that not ambiguous cultural origins but passion and nostalgia together with melancholy are the substance of tango. They will debut its week long residency with performances throughout New York.
TRIANGO will perform @ BistrOuge on June 7th, at Sunday Brunch, 1:30-3:30pm.

Stano Palch is a phenomenon by itself. A cross between Grapelli, Jean-Luc Ponty, tanguero grande and Oliver Hardy. His violin artistry is beyond description and some of the sounds that come out of his violin have never been heard before. He is at home in Slovak or any other folklore, American fiddle, bluegrass violin, Tango, jazz standards or any classical piece. You just have to hear it to believe it and that is also the reason why he is so widely demanded player, which results in dozens of CDs he recorded. He also composes, arranges and scores movies. Boris Lenko, one of the foremost and widely demanded European accordion players, was born in 1965 in Slovakia. Lenko earned a degree in accordion at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava after graduating from Zilina Conservatory. Laureate of several domestic and international competitions he started his career as an international soloist in 1990. His concerts reached large audiences at concerts and festivals in Bratislava, in Austria, Germany, France, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland etc. Boris has been pioneering an innovative repertoire for accordion in Slovakia. He has inspired creation of numerous compositions for accordion. Since 1996 he has been co-operating with The Pozon Sentimental Enseble for which he has also written a number of compositions and the VENI Ensemble for contemporary music. At present, Lenko is a Professor of accordion at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava, Slovakia. Peter Breiner, is one of the most recorded artists in the music industry, featured as a composer, arranger, pianist, or conductor on over 150 CDs as well as in television and radio programs. Tango is just one of the array of Breiners arrangements, which include music of Bach, Gershwin, ajkovskij, Russian folk songs, Christmas songs, Baroque music, Beatles, Elvis Presley, Chinese and Malaysian music, and most recently, Leo Janeks operas. In all of them, he genuinely bridges the styles and periods. His Beatles concerti grossi, Beatles Goes Baroque, opened to him, as the young composer coming from a small town in former Czechoslovakia in late 1980s, road to the world. His sensitivity to emotional nuances and mood expressions predetermined him to be also a prolific author of film scores. In 2004, Peter Breiners arrangements of 200 national anthems were selected to be played at the winning ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Athens. His arrangement of the U.S. national anthem, which provoked lively, if not controversial, responses of the American people, demonstrates succinctly his deep understanding of and creative sensitivity to any music he approaches. His arrangements of old tangos sensitively respect the personal styles of their original authors, retaining the tango character, while at the same time imprinting his very distinct signature. Breiners gift to speak fluently in different musical languages shows best in his original tangos, including Miss Mendacity and the beautiful, nostalgic piece with a perfect tango title When? Newer?.
