The Jason Parker Quartet is one of the few jazz bands featured in this year's Seattle Weekly REVERB Fest. The weekly is holding a contest in conjunction with Seattle radio station KEXP to send one of the bands playing the festival to Iceland to play at the Iceland Airwaves Festival a well.
Most of the bands featured in both festivals are indie rock bands. Rather than send another one to represent Seattle, wouldn't it be great if the band chosen was a jazz band? Seattle obviously has a long history of rock 'n' roll, from Jimi Hendrix to Nirvana to Death Cab For Cutie and Fleet Foxes. But Seattle also has an amazing jazz heritage, including Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Floyd Standifer and Hadley Caliman. What's more, the current Seattle jazz scene is thriving and rivals any other jazz scene in the nation, and the Jason Parker Quartet is one of the bands leading the way.
Help us show the world that Seattle is more than just an indie rock town! You can watch the video below for more information.
Please take one minute and CLICK HERE to vote for the JPQ and send them to Iceland to represent Seattle. They will be worthy emissaries and spread the passion, joy and love that embodies the Seattle jazz scene!
