Ron Holloway is an American tenor saxophonist known for his ability to adapt to virtually any musical environment. He is one of the busiest tenor saxophonist's on today's music scene in any genre! Ron has been a member of The Susan Tedeschi Band, the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet, Gil Scott-Heron's Band and Root Boy Slim's band. He is currently a member of The Warren Haynes Band.

In the Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz renowned jazz critic Ira Gitler describes Ron Holloway as 'a bear-down-hard-bopper who can blow authentic R&B and croon a ballad with warm blue feeling.'

Sol Roots is a fierce guitarist and soulful singer who has toured the world with many roots, funk, and blues legends. Sol and his band create a unique blend of energetic rock, gritty blues, jazz, and raw funk, all delivered with deep soul. Sol Roots has toured across the east coast U.S. at many premier festivals and venues and have been on bills with Jon Cleary, Soulive, The Wood Brothers, Robert Randolph, Jackie Greene, Eric Lindell, Walter “Wolfman" Washington and more.

Sol has performed on stage and in the studio with musical heavyweights Taj Mahal, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and with the international guitar hero Cool John Ferguson, who he performed with steadily for years. Sol has soaked in much from funk, blues, jazz, and soul heroes such as Roy Lee Johnson, Albert White, and Robert Lee Coleman, while touring and gigging with these artists. Sol also created a buzz with his underground blues hip-hop album entitled “Volume: Blue," that carried him overseas to perform these sets live.

Stomp Status - “mind opening band deeply rooted in funk, soul, jazz and blues, stretched and molded to produce something electrically organic"

Colin Thompson Band - “ Colin Thompson's sound is fresh and unique combination of blues influences mixed with their own spin" Ranked #21 on The Alternate Root's list of top roots music guitar players, Colin Thompson was washed in the blood of American music from the time he could crawl. The 22 year old son of acclaimed Americana music artist Randy Thompson has toured Europe numerous times, received raving national and international reviews. His playing has been heard on satellite and terrestrial radio all over the US, Europe, and Australia. Already a seasoned performer at his young age, he has developed a playing style that is his own. Often compared by the press to other great slide guitar players (Sonny Landreth, Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Lowell George), his playing is a fresh and unique combination of all his influences mixed with is own unique spin.

Saturday July 5 show showcases some of the best in roots, rock, jazz, soul, blues, and jam music in the Washington DC area. Tickets are available at The State Theatre website.
