The Slipper Room welcomes songwriter JC Hopkins and his Biggish Band on Thursdays, February 10th and 24th. Playing original songs in the keys of bop and swing, the band features vocalist Queen Esther, who brings to mind the strength and style of singers past such as Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan.

The JC Hopkins Biggish Band is made up of a number of New York's best working jazz musicians. Ubiquitous to the NYC scene, tenor saxophonist Patience Higgins presides over the Monday night jam sessions at Lenox Lounge, and performs regularly with legend Bobby Short and tap impresario Savion Glover. Vibraphonist Warren Smith has wielded his mallets with the best: Miles Davis, Max Roach, and Charles Mingus. Guitarist Liberty Ellman, a composer in his own right, works regularly with musicians Steve Coleman, Steven Bernstein, and Greg Osby. Ellman shines as one of the most intriguing guitarists working in New York today. The diverse of influence of each player converges in the JC Hopkins Biggish Band to create an exciting evening of original big-band jazz. -- Shell White Management 70 Adelphi Street Brooklyn, NY 11205 T: 718 254 9161 F: 718 504 4204 C: 917 559 4007
