On August 19 at 9 pm, tango diva Maria Cangiano introduces New York City to the electrifying, new musical genre that fuses traditional Latin folklore and tango with rock and contemporary jazz at Park Slope's restaurant and performance space, Night & Day.

Throughout the next four months, Argentine-born Cangiano (a.k.a. “The Edith Piaf of Tango") performs with and showcases the brilliant young stars in the vanguard of this ground-breaking sound.

With “Ballads For My Life and Death," the first in the series, Cangiano pairs her dazzling, soulful voice with the legendary keyboard virtuosity of Octavio Brunetti, award winning tango pianist and arranger, in a tribute to the great contemporary composer of Tango songs, Astor Piazzolla.

September 16, the Los Changos Trio takes its idiosyncratic blend of Argentine folk-infused jazz to dizzying heights.

October 21, La Piantada (the Crazy Woman)--keyboard, bass and guitar- -play on the experimental edge with their envelope-pushing fusion of Tango, Jazz and Rock.
