Sun, Surf and Jazz at the Manly International Jazz Festival 2008

Manly Council on the Northern Beaches of Sydney will be conducting their 31th Manly International Jazz Festival over the October long weekend on the 4th, 5th, 6th of October 2008.

With a vibrant family atmosphere and a breathtaking ocean beachfront backdrop, the festival location is considered to be the best for a Jazz Festival in Australia and reputed highly in the world of Jazz.



The usual patronage for this festival is in excess of 30,000 visitors per day and there is ample family facilities and food and refreshment venues throughout the environs of the Festival.



This year there will be a fantastic line up of new jazz talent and well-established musicians, some of these artists were part of the festival in it's early days. Audiences will enjoy listening to a mix of jazz styles presented by local, interstate and overseas acts.

In 2007 the following acts performed at the festival: George Washingmachine, Geoff Bull, John Morrison Quartet, Dale Barlow, Tina Harrod, Carol Ralph Quintet, Ingrid James, Bob Montgomery (USA), Louisiana Shakers (VIC), Jeff Duff, Doug Williams, Kristin Berardi, Michelle Nicolle (VIC), Kevin Hunt Trio, E-Type Jazz (SA), Bruce Brown (USA) and Doug Parkinson.



The complete program of artists for 2008 will be published nearer the event.



In addition to the usual fare of American Jazz and Swing music, Manly Council will also be presenting for their 7th year a taste of multicultural music from the ever popular Viva the duo. The duo perform from a repertoire of: Jazz, Swing, Latin, Cuban, French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Hungarian, Argentine etc. and classic show tunes.
