The writer-comedian picked up six nominations Thursday in connection with his first music record, The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo.
Martin was nominated as best banjo player and the album, which is No. 1 on Billboard's bluegrass chart, was nominated as best instrumental recorded performance of the year.
The Dan Tyminski Band led all nominees with nine. Tyminski, a member of Alison Krauss' band Union Station, is nominated in categories including entertainer of the year, male vocalist and song of the year, the last for Wheels."
The duo Dailey & Vincent received seven nominations. The Grascals, who won as entertainers of the year in 2006 and 2007, collected five.
The 20th annual awards will be presented Oct. 1 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
