NEWLY FORMED TINLEY PARK ARTS COUNCIL TAKES RESERVATIONS FOR ITS FIRST JAZZ EVENT

(Tinley Park, IL--) The Tinley Park Arts Council (TPAC) announces its first professional performance event for the area featuring the renowned jazz vocalist, Spider Saloff.

Spider is heard worldwide as the co-star and co-creator of the internationally syndicated weekly Public Radio series Word and Music on NPR. She has received critical acclaim nationally and internationally. As on of the rare officially sanctioned acts of the Gershwin Centennial her concert, Spider Saloff Sings Gershwin, has been touring the U.S. since 1996 and headlined at the St. Petersburg Gershwin Festival in Russia.

The Chicago Tribune calls Spider, “One of the finest jazz singers working in this or any other city.” The Tinley Park Arts Council is proud to present this high-caliber performer as its first event. The TPAC is hosting this event in conjunction with the Village of Tinley Park, with generous sponsorship of South Suburban College, and with grant support provided by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

The TPAC presents “Spider Saloff Sings Gershwin” on November 12, 2005 at Andrew High School’s Performing Arts Center. The performance commences at 7 PM with the doors opening at 6:30 PM. Tickets may be purchased for $25.00 per person in advance at either the new Tinley Park Public Library or at the Tinley Park Park District Recreation Center where credit cards are accepted. The ticket price includes a post performance reception with Spider Saloff.

For more information about Spider Saloff’s Tinley Park performance, please visit www.tinleyparkartscouncil.org. More information about Spider Saloff can be found on her website at www.spiderjazz.com.

The TPAC was founded earlier this year as a not for profit organization comprised solely of volunteers to promote the appreciation and accessibility of professional arts in the community. The non-profit hopes to continually bring new art related experiences to Tinley Park for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.
