Rothbury Festival Proceeds Blocked by Federal Judge

A federal judge has ordered the temporary seizure of all proceeds from the Rothbury music festival that would have gone to the Double JJ Ranch.

The ranch near Muskegon was the site of last weekend's event that featured performances by the Dave Matthews Band and Snoop Dogg.

U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney in Kalamazoo issued the order Wednesday in response to a lawsuit filed a day earlier by a Minneapolis bank seeking to foreclose on the resort. BankFirst is seeking $18.7 million from Double JJ for an unpaid construction loan.

The Muskegon Chronicle says the judge has rejected the bank's request to appoint a receiver to manage and control the resort, although that could happen at a July 18 hearing.
