I did some research for brother Chalfen to find out how many videos are out there for the gallery since it began.
I began with 2007 where we have Todd Brunel performing Messiaen's Abîme des oiseaux" from November of 2007 and Chris Pert and an ensemble during the same month. Chris studied at NEC and plays trumpet.
2008 has fewer entries, so far, but Liana Stillman arrived in mid summer. To fill out the year I added a Jeff Platz/Jan Klare Quartett gig in Duisberg on 9/11
2009 is a relatively fat year as a the place begins to lean toward a surprisingly robust free jazz focus with a Jacob William Quintet in February and a mixed media project in early March from good old Zinman with the venerable Mr Voigt on bass and action painting from Linda Clave.
With April came a woman from Estonia named Ellom in a performance project by the Chagall Collective, mind child of Normika and Dennis. This particular Sequence was shot in Paris. Another gifted student from the NEC Jazz and Improvisation departments, Joe Moffett, managed to get his ephemeral Bird. Fly. Yellow. ensemble recorded a few days later on April 9th. An Allan Chase and Bruno Raberg duo occurred in late spring with an example of the odd 'free improv' scene involving Bill Solomon, Lief Ellis and Matt Sargent from the Hartford Sound Alliance on June 9th. Two laptops get a real work out.
July brought an example of regular stalwarts, the Dave Fox Four, also involving Mr. Raberg and David Tronzo and good old Zinman began his collaboration with singer Lo Galluccio. Tom Hall also began a series of improvisations and from early October we have Session III, Improvisation 2 and 3 involving the area's jaunty, jovial trombonist, Jeff Galindo, with Marty Ballou on bass.
Zinman bounces back with he legendary Halloween gig involving Ms Clave in a witch's get up and more acrylic splashery. Laurence Cook manages to work his kit over while deftly dodging the paint.
2010 has seen fewer entries but was marked by the participation Dr. T., Emile Tobenfeld. All the photo's laced through this chronology also come from him. He bagan the year up at our colleague space, 119 Gallery, in Lowell, with a Kevin Frenette collaboration and he worked with a Glynis Lomon and Forbes Graham duet involving water visuals in March.
A Todd Brunel production elsewhere involved a number of gallery regulars in July including Jim Hobbs and David Maxwell.
Finally, August saw a poetry marathon and we end with a Tobenfeld project from La Push, a small coastal place out on the Olympic peninsula in Washington State.
