MCG Jazz, Paquito D’Rivera and "Panamericana Suite" Receives Two Latin Grammy Awards

Pittsburgh, PA: MCG Jazz, the independent record label housed at Manchester Craftsmen's Guild on the North Side, has again produced a CD that has won two Latin GRAMMY® Awards. The awards were announced today during the pre-telecast awards show at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Congratulations go out to Paquito D'Rivera on his two Latin GRAMMY® Awards. This time it is for Panamericana Suite (MCGJ 1026), in the Best Latin Jazz Album and Best Contemporary Classical Composition categories. “This recording expresses the essence of Paquito D'Rivera," says Marty Ashby, who produced the CD with his brother Jay Ashby. “From refined Classical compositions to swinging jazz, Paquito takes the listener on a journey celebrating the multitude of Latin and World rhythms, connecting them with the best of jazz and classical traditions. We send our congratulations to all the musicians on Panamericana Suite, Paquito's production company, Greenbug Ltd. and especially to Paquito."

These awards mark the second and third Latin GRAMMY® Award wins for MCG Jazz. Other MCG Jazz GRAMMY® / Latin GRAMMY® wins are:

39th Annual GRAMMY® Award—Best Large Ensemble Performance—Count Basie Orchestra with the New York Voices Live at Manchester Craftsmen's Guild (MCGJ 1002).

4th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Award—Best Latin Jazz Album—Brazilian Dreams [Paquito D'Rivera and New York Voices] (MCGJ 1010)

47th Annual GRAMMY® Award—Best Jazz Vocal Album—R.S.V.P. (Rare Songs, Very Personal) [Nancy Wilson] (MCGJ 1013)

49th Annual GRAMMY® Award—Best Jazz Vocal Album—Turned To Blue [Nancy Wilson] (MCGJ 1022)

The 12th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards aired on November 10, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV, broadcast live on the Univision Network from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT (7:00 p.m. Central).
