Matthew Alec is rapidly making a name for himself as an emerging talent on the jazz scene.
—Greg Banaszak, Grammy Nominated Saxophonist
Nominated as Cleveland's “best jazz" for 2024 by the Cleveland Music Awards, explosive fusion supergroup Matthew Alec and The Soul Electric bring old school swagger to their fresh, exciting, and innovative blend of jazz, pop, and funk. Led by All About Jazz's #19 “Favorite Living Jazz Saxophonist" for 2024 Matthew Alec, the 7-piece collective is blazing new paths in modern jazz fusion.
The group's debut studio album Cleveland Time featuring former SNL Musical Director Tom “Bones” Malone was released in 2021 and charted for several weeks on US & Canada jazz radio and received international press from Jazziz Magazine, All About Jazz, JazzMonthly.com, SoulTracks.com, Broadway World, WBSS Media, Glide Magazine, and many others. Since that album's release, the group has released two live albums one of which also featured Malone.
The group proudly presents its 4th album, a mostly-live release with two studio tracks: A Bad Rep in the Rubber City featuring Grammy-nominated altoist Greg Banaszak, award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Jeremy Voltz, and rising hip-hop sensation Minus the Alien alongside The Soul Electric’s all-star cast!
Matthew is sponsored by RS Berkeley saxophones, DeJacques saxophone straps and Remic Microphones.
