On four consecutive Mondays this Fall, jazz vocalist Kelley Suttenfield will take to the stage of the Metropolitan Room in a series called “Mondays with the Masters."

Suttenfield, New York based with Southern roots, is known internationally as an offbeat, jazz storyteller with an unusual spin on American music, and a diverse repertoire ranging from the Beatles, to Brazilian standards and beyond. She expanded her fan base recently to London, where she debuted at Ronnie Scott's in January 2011. She will be joined by a different guitarist each evening, singing much-loved songs and a few new surprises. The guitarist lineup is strong and eclectic. Joe Carbone (9/19): Carbone is known as a singers' accompanist, he counts Sammy Davis Jr., Frankie Laine and 60's idol Bobby Rydell among his favorite gigs; Tony Romano (9/26): prolific NYC player who has toured worldwide and played with many Latin, Jazz and Pop artists including Stanley Jordan and Randy Brecker; Vic Juris (10/3): Vic has traveled far and wide with the likes of Jimmy Smith, Sarah Vaughan, Chico Hamilton, Dave Liebman, Richie Cole and Mel Tormé, to name only a few greats; and Howard Alden (10/10): Alden needs little intro, and has been described as ..."the best of his generation" by JazzTimes. Bassist Matt Aronoff, whose credits include gigs with Luciana Souza at the Kennedy Center and Peter Eldridge at Birdland, joins every Monday. Cover charge is $15.00 with a two-drink minimum.

Up close and personal in an intimate setting, this concert series is not to be missed.

“Here's a singer with a lot of great ideas, and the ability to deliver them... the closest thing I can compare it to is Madeleine Peyroux's debut Dreamland...give me more!" —George W. Harris, JazzWeekly

“Smoky, sultry fumes emanate from Kelley Suttenfield's vocals like liquid fire. Here's a gal who puts her entire being into the songs cradling the lyrics in her vocals and stoking the embers in the verses with a velvety touch. “ —Susan Frances, JazzTimes

“Suttenfield and her band give a superb performance with this session of familiar songs; the creative ideas shown here indicate a deep appreciation for what's most important in modern jazz." —Jim Santella, L.A. Jazz Scene

“Once [Suttenfield] arrived on the bandstand, she immediately made her mark...her phrasing had a distinctive country-style edge." —Clive Davis, The [London] Times
