VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS
Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks are renowned on the New York scene for their commitment to preserving and authentically presenting 1920s jazz. Each piece they perform is inspired by, and arranged from, original recordings from greats of the era. The Nighthawks are Vince Giordano, Andy Stein, Brad Shigeta, Mark Lopeman, Dan Levinson, Dave Brown, Randy Sandke, Dan Block, Peter Yarin, Mark McCarron and John Gill. They were recently featured in the movie The Aviator.
TRIO DA PAZ
Featuring three of Brazil's most in-demand musicians, Trio da Paz updates the infectious spirit of jazz-oriented Brazilian music. Formed in 1990 by Romero Lubambo, Nilson Matta and Duduka da Fonseca, the Trio redefines Brazilian Jazz with their harmonically adventurous interactions, daring improvisations and dazzling rhythms. All three are seasoned masters of both jazz and Brazilian music with impressive resumes.
SOL YAGED
Yaged is one of Benny Goodman's most-devoted disciples, so well- versed in Goodman's style that he was hired as technical advisor to Steve Allen for the 1956 film The Benny Goodman Story. Yaged took up clarinet as an adolescent after hearing Goodman's 1935 National Biscuit Company broadcasts. He studied for many years with a member of the New York Philharmonic and was offered a chair with the Buffalo Philharmonic, which he declined. He instead embraced jazz, playing at New York clubs like Jimmy Ryan's and the Swing Club in the '40s. Yaged served in the Army during World War II; he worked widely as a sideman before and after the war, notably with Phil Napoleon's Memphis Five. Some of the famous names on his resum include Coleman Hawkins, Henry “Red" Allen, and Jack Teagarden. From the mid-'50s, Yaged mostly led his own bands. Over the next several decades, he became a fixture in such New York nightclubs as the Metropole, Jimmy Weston's, and the Gaslight. By the late '90s, Yaged was fronting a band called the Felix Swing Band, led by keyboardist Felix Endico. A successful society orchestra based in New York's Westchester County (just north of N.Y.C.), the group's repertoire features arrangements made famous by Goodman, Artie Shaw, Fletcher Henderson, Chick Webb, Duke Ellington, Earl Hines, and Count Basie, among others. ~ Chris Kelsey, All Music Guide

A consummate fixture on the New York jazz scene, Lew Soloff's career is filled with a rich history of renowned sessions and world-class collaborations. From the time he eased into the east coast world of trend setting musicians in the mid 1960's, Soloff's creative ventures have resulted in a respected body of work that places him in a category of true accomplishment and keeps his elegant and lyrical signatures in constant demand. Whether interpreting a standard or improvising on an original composition, his phrasing and note choices exemplify his unique voice. Soloff is known as a virtuoso with tremendous range and superior technical command, yet he exudes a wisdom for quietness and melody. Soloff's expertise includes trumpet, flugelhorn, harmon mute, plunger mute and he is particularly recognized for his work on piccolo trumpet.
