International Jazz Composing Competition “Scrivere in Jazz" now open for submissions

A new performing section will award best emerging jazz singer

The International Composing Competition “Scrivere in Jazz" is now open for submissions. This biennial event intends awarding the best big band compositions written by musicians of all nationalities. Besides, as it did in its last edition, “Scrivere in Jazz" will give a great opportunity to jazz singers. They can apply for the only one performing section: each finalist will perform live in Sassary (Italy) in September, 2010, with the Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna and be voted by a jury panel. Application will be accepted by June 30, 2010.

“Scrivere in jazz" has three main sections: free original compositions; original compositions inspired by traditional sardinian music (in both cases music must be arranged for 18-member jazz orchestra); performing (jazz singing). The final jackpot is set at 10,000 euros.
