Pianist Omar Sosa received the award for Afro-Caribbean Jazz Album of the Year from the Jazz Journalists Association for his latest CD release “Sentir" (OTA1009). Alyn Shipton wins the 'Jazz Writer of the Year' Award for his New History of Jazz in the British Hamlet Jazz awards. The prize was presented at last week's ceremony by Humphrey Lyttelton, who described the book as 'the definitive history of jazz'.
