While Mr. Tate has made a name for himself as a first-call drummer since the 1960s, working with artists like Jimmy Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Stan Getz, Tony Bennett and others, he has also established himself as a successful jazz vocalist. The drummer-vocalist has released three vocal albums and garnered two Grammy nominations for Best Male Pop Vocalist" in 1973 and 1989 for his efforts.
