Here's a bad ideastart a music conference. There are already way too many, they all overlap, and topics and panelists tend to get regurgitated from one event to another.
Here's a better ideastart a targeted music conference. Tommy Silverman is trying his luck with a DIY-focused New Music Seminar, and we just covered a small event for independent music publishers (now that's targeted).
But there are so many other segments not even getting addressed. What about professional, gigging musicians that are actually making money?
Or, what about managers? Addressing that group, the Artist Management Conference is hitting New York in mid-October (14th and 15th), the inaugural event. Who knows what this will look like, though 'AMCON' is targeting both managers and self-managed artists, probably a quickly growing group these days. Oh, and artists seeking quality representation may also consider attending.
More details here. And, for the most comprehensive list of upcoming digital music industry events, saunter over here.
