Even Tom Petty Gives His Music Away Free

Tom Petty will hedging his bets when he heads out on tour this summer. Not only will a rotating all-star cast of opening acts including Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills and Nash, ZZ Top, Buddy Guy and others join him for the concerts, but he's giving every fan who buys a ticket to one of the shows on their summer tour a free digital copy of “Mojo", their first new album in five years.

Two songs from the new album, “First Flash of Freedom" and “Good Enough" will be available for download as soon as convert tickets are purchased, and then the rest of the album will be available to concert goers free when it's released on June 15. As a bonus, select live tracks will given away after the tour.

and could be a bow to tough times both is recorded music sales and the overall economy.The effort is powered by Live Nation Merchandise and is the kind of cross promotion that the concert giant promised when merging with Ticketmaster.
