New York drummer Carl Allen brings his scene to Los Angeles to join pianist John Beasley to lead a quintent for some east-west action. Joining this prospect are east/west coasters bassist Eric Revis, saxophonist Kathy Salem and trumpeter Marquis Hill.

Carl Allen’s profound and propulsive percolations provided soulful and syncopated playing with Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Benny Golson, Jennifer Holliday, J.J. Johnson, Rickie Lee Jones, Sammy Davis Jr., Branford Marsalis, Kenny Garrett, Lena Horne, Ruth Brown, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, Mike Stern, Nellie McKay, Terence Blanchard, Phil Woods, Benny Green, Cyrus Chestnut, Joe Henderson, Billy Childs and many others.

Eric Revis: “Eric’s sound is big, thick, percussive,” says Brandfort Marsalis. Grammy winner Revis has performed and recorded with Betty Carter, Peter Brotzmann, “Tain” Watts, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Steve Coleman, Ralph Peterson, Lionel Hampton, McCoy Tyner.

Ralph Moore: Critics around the world have been singing hosannas about Moore since he arrived on the modern jazz scene in the early '80s. LA Times called him “the superb jazz tenor, one of modern music's most melodic and emotional exponents.” Moore joined ace composer pianist Horace Silver and played with jazz giants Roy Haynes, Freddie Hubbard + JJ Johnson.

“John Beasley, the one-time keyboardist for Freddie Hubbard and Miles Davis, whose playing reflects a variety of generational influences, incorporating the emphatic chordal clusters of Herbie Hancock, the rhythmic quirkiness of Monk and the lush intelligence of Art Tatum into a highly refined personal voice.” LA Times

Beasley's talent has no boundaries. In 2015, he will produce the International Jazz Day Gala Concert in Paris (Apr 30) bringing together an A-list of jazz icons and a Portuguese diaspora concert in Sao Paolo (May), while juggling work on the upcoming James Bond “Spectre" film and a documentary on Nobel Peace prize winning activist Malala. His big Band MONK'estra will play at SF Jazz and the Stanford Jazz Festival in August.

Marquis Hill: New York Times “A dauntingly skilled trumpeter from the South Side of Chicago, a prized local phenomenon” NY times. Marquis got the golden ticket winning the 2014 Monk International Jazz Competition with his “sharp, expressive insight in his playing.”
