Daniel Criado continues to showcase his top-drawer drumming abilities on his new single, “Internship." Although the title makes it sound like he hasn't matured in his craft, that isn't the case. In fact, Criado has seen the world having performed in South America, Asia, and various parts of the U.S. All it takes is one listen to “Internship" to feel the strength of his drumming.

And that isn't hyperbole. Canopus Drums and Bosphorus Cymbals chose to sponsor Criado; he uses them both in this recording. And his affection for them is authentic. Of Bosphorus Cymbals, Criado stated: “One of the things I love about Bosphorus Cymbals is their versatility when it comes to volume range and cymbal complexity. You can really get to very quiet and intimate moments to completely “bashing out the window” kind of loud. Their cymbals are handmade in Turkey, and their cymbal making techniques belong to a long tradition of cymbal makers which have positioned Bosphorus Cymbals as one of the top cymbal brands in the world."

Certainly, Bosphorus Cymbals chose well. You can hear the clarity of their equipment on “Internship." But it's boosted by the precision of Criado's performance.

As for Canopus Drums, it's a match so perfect that it seems like destiny. Criado said that, “I only feel honored to be part of their worldwide renowned team, which include drummers such as the nine-time Grammy nominated drummer Harvey Mason and many other drummers of iconic statue such as Brian Blade and Kenny Washington. As a jazz drummer who appreciates the vintage sounds, I am just amazed as to how they manage to make it sound Vintage and yet very suitable for modern and avant-garde genres of music. In my experience with vintage drums, I’ve always felt that I need that extra ring, that warm yet bright sound that my music needs. In my experience as a working drummer, Canopus offers that and much more."

What makes this achievements even more remarkable is that he's finding success in the competitive jazz field of New York City as a Colombian citizen. Criado explained that “Being a foreign musician in a place like New York City has truly made me see how my roots as Colombian have many contributions to make in my field from an artistic point of view. Gravitating between the Jazz world and the Colombian influences through the work of my group The Daniel Criado Project, I’ve been able to see the impact on people from different parts of the world on every performance."
