Music supports global communications and surpasses limitations, and few genres illustrate this better than classical music and jazz. Both have rich histories and specific characteristics, yet they share a profound ability to stimulate emotion and tell stories. The album Domus Solis written and produced by Taras Kutsenko and Alex Sino artistically bridges the traditions of joy in music history from Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” to Leontovich’s “Shchedryk” (also known as “Carol of the Bells”). It masterfully transitions from the structured elegance of classical music to the improvisational freedom of jazz. By arranging and recording these iconic pieces, Domus Solis brings their joyful spirit into a modern context, creating a unique and uplifting listening experience enhanced by sound designer Sasha Gusev. All musicians behind this album are virtuosos in their own right, each bringing a unique perspective to the fusion of classical and jazz.

Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” is a cornerstone of classical music, originally part of his Ninth Symphony. It symbolizes unity and joy. In Domus Solis this part of Beethoven’s 9 Symphony is reimagined with contributions from the Zhangjiajie Philharmonic Orchestra and international musicians, adding a fresh and global perspective to the timeless melody with a colorfully arranged Latin Jazz and Rock beat.

Leontovich’s «Shchedryk», on the other hand, is a traditional Ukrainian Christmas Chant that has gained worldwide recognition as “Carol of the Bells”. This track in the album features stylish Latin Jazz arrangements and contributions from world-renowned artists like Al Di Meola, Ed Calle, Amaury Guttierrez, Andrei Pushkarev, Camilo Velandia, Camilo Valencia, Francis Goya, Julio Ariel Diaz, and Richard Bravo. The inclusion of “Shchedryk” and “Ukrainian Song” in “Domus Solis” not only pays homage to Ukrainian musical heritage but also showcases the versatility and creativity of Sino and Kutsenko in bringing traditional music into a modern context. These tracks, along with others on the album, exemplify the collaborative spirit and musical innovation that defines “Domus Solis.”

Domus Solis: The title track is a beautiful blend of trumpet played by Taras Kutsenko, piano by Oleg Polyanskiy, and guitar by Camilo Velandia, creating a harmonious balance between classical and contemporary sounds. The sound of a wind organ played by Elisa Karpenko brought this composition an unforgettable color.

“The Power of Light” is the hymn of joy and positivity featuring musicians of Zhangjiajie Philharmonic Orchestra and its soloists: Valeriy Moiseenko, Iurii Kokidko, Dilshod Mamadaliev, Nuriddin Kambarov, Luo Yong and Guzal Tadjikulova.

For the album cover, Taras Kutsenko and Alex Sino used the sculpture “House of the Coming Sun” created by Mikhail Reva. By the artistic view of the sculptor the art object was intentionally missing a 3rd element which could be a child, a seagull, or the sea. Producers of the Domus Solis believe that they found a 3rd missing element which was the music!

Taras Kutsenko and Alex Sino are both accomplished musicians with a passion for pushing the boundaries of classical music. Kutsenko’s expertise in conducting the orchestra, playing trumpet, and composing music, combined with Sino’s innovative approach to writing and music production, developed “Domus Solis”—a Classical—Jazz Crossover Masterpiece.
