New Album, Hello Tomorrow, Is No. 1

On Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Chart And iTunes' Jazz Album Chart

Lead Single “Put The Top Down" Is No. 1 On Mediabase Smooth A/C Chart

Hello Tomorrow, Dave Koz's new album, debuts at No. 1 on both Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and iTunes' Jazz Album chart, becoming the GRAMMY®-nominated saxophonist's fourth consecutive album to bow atop both charts. “Put The Top Down," the album's lead single, is No. 1 on the Mediabase Smooth A/C chart. The song rose to the No. 1 spot in just six weeks, marking the fastest climb of a single in the format's history.

Hello Tomorrow, which was produced by GRAMMY winners Marcus Miller and John Burk, has received critical praise. The New York Times hailed the album as “an event record" while the New York Post observed: “Koz... possesses a sterling, pure-tone instrumental technique that is the backbone of this record." Advocate.com called it an “inspired and deeply catchy collection of tunes."

This Sunday Koz will perform his next single, “Start All Over Again," with singer-songwriter Dana Glover on the hit series “Desperate Housewives." Glover, who recorded the track with Koz for Hello Tomorrow, plays housewife Emma Graham, who puts on a cabaret show—with the aid of Koz—with surprising results. The episode will air on October 24th (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Start All Over Again" has already garnered early response at the flagship Los Angeles station KTWV The Wave. The song is now available for download at all digital retailers. You can check out footage of Dave and Dana recording “Start All Over Again" and hear why he considers it the centerpiece of the album:

Koz will appear on “The Tavis Smiley Show" on PBS on Friday, October 22nd. (Check local listings for details.) Last week he launched Hello Tomorrow with a special evening at the GRAMMY Museum®, the latest in the “American Express Presents The Drop" series.

Hello Tomorrow follows 2008's Dave Koz—Greatest Hits, his first-ever retrospective record, which spent eight weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and, two years later, is still in the Top 40. The Dave Koz and Friends A Smooth Jazz Christmas tour, a holiday tradition, launches on November 26th. This year's outing features special guests South African singer/guitarist Jonathan Butler and keyboardist Brian Culbertson, who appear on Hello Tomorrow, as well as Dutch saxophone star Candy Dulfer.
