Con Alma is excited to announce a new Thursday night residency beginning on November 14. Pittsburgh drumming legend Roger Humphries, whom Horace Silver once described as “one of my best drummers”, will take the Con Alma stage every Thursday from 8:00PM- 11:00PM.

Perhaps most famous for his contributions to Silver’s Song for My Father and Cape Verdean Blues, Dr. Humphries is also renowned for his more recent work with the late guitarist Jimmy Ponder and bassist Dwayne Dolphin. He is a living extension of the prolific Pittsburgh drumming tradition, which includes such illustrious names as Art Blakey, Kenny Clarke, and Joe Harris. With his emphasis on cross-generational collaboration, he remains unrivaled in his reputation as a jazz educator. Dr. Humphries will be joined by the RH Factor, an all-Pittsburgh musical cast handpicked by the drummer himself.

More information about Roger Humphries’s Thursday night residency and all other upcoming performances can be found at conalmapgh.com. Follow Con Alma on Facebook and Instagram at @conalmapgh for additional photographs, videos, and information on food and drink specials.

Con Alma is a restaurant and jazz bar located on Ellsworth Avenue in Shadyside. Inspired by the rich heritage of jazz in Pittsburgh, Con Alma, which means “with soul,” seeks to return jazz to its rightful place at the forefront of the local music scene. Con Alma’s house band hosts current Pittsburgh musicians live six nights a week. The club features a Latin-inspired menu with dishes from South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, with a touch of Asian influence, paired with Prohibition-style classic cocktails, new twists on Latin favorites, and a hand-selected wine list, featuring varietals from all over the world.
