Ken Franckling was a gifted and prolific photographer, writer, critic and ardent supporter of jazz and jazz musicians. His writings and photos have been included in publications such as Jazz Times, Hot House, OffBeat and AllAboutJazz.com, as well as his long-running blog Ken Francking's Jazz Notes." Ken's contributions to our community and local jazz musicians are tremendous and this Jazz Jam will honor his work and his legacy,
Remembering an old friend... Ken Franckling was a journalist and critic who reported on jazz since the '80s. A true champion of the music, the news of his sudden passing came as a shock. Ken was also a photographer and a long-time All About Jazz contributor and single-handedly authored our annual Year in Jazz report. The depth and breadth of his coverage was jaw-dropping (proof) and Ken did this diligently for nearly 20 years. It was sui generis reporting that we will never see the likes of again. He will be deeply missed." —Michael Ricci
