Cellar Live Comes To The Big Apple November 10th and 11th at Greenwich Village's Fat Cat

Cellar Live, a Canadian based record label run out of the famous Cellar Restaurant / Jazz Club is coming to New York City. On November 10th and 11th at Greenwich Village's FAT CAT, Cellar Live will present THE UPTOWN QUINTET with guest THE CHAD MAKELA QUARTET (November 10th ) and UGETSU (November 11th).

The Vancouver based Chad Makela Quartet released their debut CD Flicker in April of 2006 and has received rave reviews. Makela is a driving force on an underplayed and underrated instrument.

UGETSU was born out of the collective love of the music and spirit of Art Blakey. It features 6 of Canada's finest musicians and their debut CD Live at The Cellar released earlier this year has been a hit in Canada and Japan.

Headlining the showcase will be New York's own UPTOWN QUINTET featuring fiery trumpter RYAN KISOR (Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra), alto saxophonist IAN HENDRICKSON-SMITH (SharonJones & The Dap Kings) and pianist SPIKE WILNER. This quintet of 30 somethings is steeped in the hard bop tradition. Their debut record Live in New York released this year has been a huge hit in Japan and has received incredible reviews across North America and Europe.

This promises to be a night of music not soon to be forgotten.
