Cedar Walton & Roy Hargrove at Jazz at Lincoln Center on January 9-10

WHO/WHAT:
Pianist, composer and arranger Cedar Walton and acclaimed trumpeter Roy Hargrove join forces to make beautiful music in the second concert of Jazz at Lincoln Centers Duo Tones series. Dubbed The Maestro by his peers, Mr. Walton is an influential musician whose career has included performances with John Coltrane on his 1959 Giant Steps sessions, as well as with Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers alongside Freddie Hubbard and Wayne Shorter. His younger companion in this series, Mr. Hargrove has honed his chops with Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins, among others. Together, Mr. Walton and Mr. Hargrove bring two generations of jazz together for an exciting performance.
