Carlos Santana is set to receive a lifetime achievement award at the 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
The awards ceremony will be held this evening (Thursday April 23) at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida. Other award winners include Spirit of Hope recipient Daddy Yankee and Hall of Fame inductee Pablo Raul Alarcon Sr.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards honor the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music. This is determined by sales and radio airplay data during a one-year period.
Juanes, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Gloria Estefan and Ruben Blades are among the nominees in various categories.
