Connection Works is an artist-run non-profit organization (501c3) that engages the Brooklyn community with world-class jazz performances and educational events. Our programs promote and facilitate new work by established and up-and-coming artists alike. We provide a forum that supports the astonishing number of brilliant artists in our borough. We at Connection Works believe in and encourage the practice of creativity as a means to nourish the mind, body, and spirit. connectionworks.org

Two artist-run jazz organizations based in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Jazz Underground and Connection Works, have teamed up to produce a weekly jazz residency at Korzo in South Park Slope: UNDERGROUND WORKS. The performances take place every Thursday, and are curated by a different core member each month. The curator for April is flutist and composer, Michel Gentile. Michel has recorded and performed with Anthony Braxton, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Adam Rudolph, and many others. Michel has also worked extensively with dance, theater, and film. April's program will include: vocalists, a jazz woodwind quintet, solo bass, and cutting edge original music by established jazz groups.

Since the Spring of 2008 BJURecords has been actively expanding its catalog with recordings from a diverse group of Brooklyn-based artists who, in their own brilliantly unique way, are defining the Brooklyn/NYC jazz scene. The full catalog, and additional information is available at BJURecords.com. Releases in 2010 will include new recordings from trombonist Mike Fahie (feat. Bill McHenry, Ben Monder, Ben Street, Billy Hart), trumpeter David Smith, drummers Sunny Jain and Owen Howard, and bassist Alexis Cuadrado.
