BJORK TO UNVEIL NEW ALBUM BIOPHILIA AT MANCHESTER INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

Bjork has announced plans to debut her new album Biophilia at the Manchester International Festival.

Bjork will be at MIF for a three-week residency; six shows in Campfield Market Hall for audiences of 1800, her first UK dates in over three years. Her new album is being described as a “multi-media project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows." A release date has not yet been announced.

For these six shows, Bjork will be performing new tracks from the forthcoming Biophilia studio album as well as music from her back catalogue with a small group of collaborators. A press release describes the show as having “a range of specially conceived and crafted instruments, among them a bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organ; a 30 foot pendulum that harnesses the earth's gravitational pull to create musical patterns—creating a unique bridge between the ancient and the modern; a bespoke gamelan-celeste hybrid; and a one-off extraordinary pin barrel harp."

Following the premiere in Manchester, there are plans to take the live show to major cities around the world.
