Are You Ready To Sell? Warner Music Group Is In The Mood To Buy

As the income from music sales dwindle and the number reversion clauses increase, established music companies have turned to catalog acquisition as a way to boost the bottom line.  With a new hire, Warner Music Group has signaled that its ramping up its own buying strategy.

Heath Kudler has been appointed Executive Vice President, Global Repertoire Acquisition, for Warner Music Group (WMG). In this newly created position, Kudler will work to expand the company’s musical portfolio, including bringing new artists, labels, and master catalogs into the WMG fold.

Prior to joining WMG, Kudler was with Epic Records from 2011 to 2014, most recently serving as EVP of Business & Legal Affairs. He previously spent 15 years at Island Def Jam Music Group, where he moved up the ranks from legal intern at the company’s Mercury label to IDJ’s SVP of Business & Legal Affairs. He will be based in New York.
