All About Jazz greatly improved how we handle album personnel—making it easier for readers to discover “who played on what."

To best illustrate how we (now) present personnel on an album, check out Pat Metheny's From This Place. Scroll to the personnel section to view the new look which includes the musician's name, their photo and their instrument. The name and photo is hotlinked to the musician's page at All About Jazz. We also improved how we present personnel on an album review page. Check John Kelman's review of From This Place. Personnel is more clearly marked and the names are now hotlinked to their respective musician pages.

Every musician in the database has an “Albums" landing page and you can view an example here.

Musician? Get Started

All About Jazz currently hosts 113,776 musician / band pages. Check out the Jazz Musician Primer to learn how to claim and/or update your page with a photo and instrument so you are properly represented on other recordings.

Good to know...

  • A musician or musician page administrator uploads albums from the musician page update form or from the musician's main discography page.
  • Learn the easy steps on how to upload an album here.
  • Musicians should revisit previously uploaded albums to account for the new way we handle personnel.
  • Adding personnel to an album will increase the number of pages your album will appear on. Example, Nicholas Payton plays on The Smoogies Planet Smoogies record and as a result, the record also appears here. Good on the Smoogies!
