A new quartet featuring a collaboration by drummer Aaron Alexander, bassist Fima Ephron, trumpet player Ben Holmes and guitarist Jay Vilnai will make its debut performance on Wednesday, May 30th at the Tea Lounge, 837 Union St., Park Slope, Brooklyn, at 9:30pm.
The quartet brings together four musicians active in New York's Balkan, Klezmer and jazz scenes, that have worked and led a variety of ensembles such as Slavic Soul Party, Paradox Trio, Midrash Mish Mosh, Hassidic New Wave, Vampire Suit, Romashka and more. The ensemble will play originals penned by all members that reflect their experiences in these diverse scenes, as well as arrangements of standards from around the world.
