Voision Xi

Guided by the free-spirited nature of jazz and infused with warm, poignant tones, Voision Xi, a Shanghai-based jazz vocalist, lyricist, composer, and music producer, is constantly evolving her craft.

Voision Xi, leading her jazz band Little Happiness Group, which consists of several outstanding local jazz artists, released their debut EP, DEBUT, in 2018. The album features newly arranged traditional jazz standards. It has captivated listeners with atmospheric sounds of flowing rivers, blowing winds, cosmic imagery, and an invitation to stretch the imagination.

Following DEBUT, she became one of the most sought-after featured artists, known for her distinctive voice and exceptional improvisational skills. Additional collaborative singles have showcased her melodic potential and lyrics, bridging jazz and other genres. Over many years of live performances with bands like Jazz and Poetry, Voision Xi & Spetsnaz, and Little Happiness Group, touring across mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan, she has demonstrated her diverse skills in various music scenes around China and Asia.

In January 2022, Voision Xi released her full-length album Lost for Words, a multi-chapter music project. From the Taipei corner story to the starry dreams woven in her mind, and the personal introspection of returning to her true self, she and her fans eagerly witnessed the project’s fruition, marking her growth since her DEBUT. The album has received many positive reviews, including second place in the monthly album selection of Netease Cloud Music’s Yingdi Original List. It also earned a shortlist nomination for the Singapore Freshmusic Awards' Best New Artist category and an invitation from the renowned Japanese label Disk Union to release an exclusive Japan edition CD under Think! Records.

In addition to live performances and recordings, Voision Xi has worked as an executive producer and planner for JZ Music, an organization known for its annual international festival, the JZ Festival, which has been a major force in Chinese jazz over the last decade. As a core member, she has also been invited to several music festivals in Indonesia and France. She devotes significant time to planning and promoting live shows, supervising music products, supporting Chinese contemporary jazz artists with music distribution, and practicing and rehearsing for gigs and recording sessions.

Nearly three years after the release of Lost for Words, she returns with her second solo album, Queen and Elf. Set for release in early winter, this album continues Voision Xi’s musical journey rooted in jazz, with each note infused with inspiration and offering a warmth that transcends time and space.
