Viktorija Gečytė: Bringing jazz to life with elegance, soul, and a voice that captivates audiences worldwide.
Lithuanian-born singer Viktorija Gečytė exemplifies natural elegance and swing, exciting audiences from Paris to New York with her sultry voice and sophisticated style.
Seine-Saint-Denis Magazine calls Viktorija “a lady of jazz with an angel voice,” while the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival describes her as “a class act.” Drawing inspiration from Carmen McRae, Anita O’Day, and Abbey Lincoln, she creates a sense of vulnerability in her storytelling, captivating audiences with both classic jazz standards and her own compositions.
For over 15 years, Viktorija has toured, recorded, and co-composed songs with eminent American bassist Gene Perla, performing across Europe and the US. Her collaboration with Perla includes three acclaimed albums, notably “In The Moment,” praised by Couleurs Jazz as a “major record,” and twelve successful tours.
Stepping out of her comfort zone, she co-led a big band project with French pianist Julien Coriatt, resulting in the provocative album “Blue Lake.” Today, from Paris, she leads Vik & The Vibe Tribe, a quartet where vibes are the only harmonic instrument. Viktorija is also a sought-after guest singer, performing in settings from cozy duos to expansive big bands.
Singing, for Viktorija, is more than making music: “It’s a conversation, an endeavor, and a never-ending journey,” she says. Audiences can always expect a timeless blend of technical excellence, emotional depth, and unique interpretation whenever she takes the stage.
