After surveying scenes from 4 continents with projects as varied as Bratsch, Macha Gharibian, le Bruit du [sign], Sibiel or Volo, Théo Girard releases the first album in his name featuring french trumpet player Antoine Berjeaut and British drummer Seb Rochford (Sons of Kemet, Polar Bear). 30YearsFrom is a project that evokes the first fruits, the first spark, the birth. As Théo Girard explains : « I grew up in a musical environment, my mother was a freelance costume designer for the opera and my father was the founding violinist of Bratsch (a famous French band) and also played in free jazz bands like Alan Silva’s Celestrial Communication Orchestra in the 80s. In the past, Théo Girard was quite used to collective writing. The latest, G!rafe, has been hailed by the famous French musical magazines « Les Inrocks » and « Télérama ». With his trio 30YF, it changes direction. He has refined his approach to his bass and proposes new music written entirely on his favorite instrument to highlight the poetry peculiar to the bassists « whose lines draw long curves serving the panache of the soloist of Jazz, and whose groove can interact with the MC’s flow ». His inspiration comes from Hip Hop, Jazz, but also from the musicians he has called to build this trio. Warm-sounding artists whose metal, breath and skins envelop and rustle the wood of the great lady.
