Sofia Moriz

Sofia Moriz (b. 12 June 2013, Cape Town, South Africa) is a young and versatile musician whose broad artistic talent spans piano, guitar, bass guitar, and vocals. Beginning formal piano study at age six, Sofia progressed rapidly through music levels, achieving Piano Level 4 by 2025 under the tutelage of teachers at Hout Bay Music, where she also studied guitar and bass.

Her musical accomplishments include multiple Honours Awards and Music Star of the Month recognitions, and she earned a Gold Diploma at the Cape Town Music Eisteddfod for piano — one of Cape Town’s most respected performance festivals. Sofia has showcased her performance confidence on stage, including opening a live show and delivering a solo guitar set to an audience of approximately 500 listeners at Artscape, Cape Town, demonstrating both technical poise and expressive presence.

In addition to live performances, Sofia has entered the professional recording world, contributing backing vocals to internationally released singles recorded at Hout Bay Music’s studio — marking her first global releases. Her sound reflects a blend of classical training, instrumental versatility, and early studio experience, suggesting a promising future in both jazz-influenced styles and broader contemporary music.

Sofia’s profile represents a rare intersection of disciplined training, artistic breadth, and stage confidence for her age — a young musician already building a foundation for creative growth and diverse performance opportunities.
