Sandia offers original modern young spirit, innovative music, which incorporates Jazz, Ethnic, World, Fusion, that can touch a large variety of audiences through a special mix of groove, fascinating melodies, and complexity. The band is consisting of saxophone, piano, bass, drums.

First prize in Pros & Amateurs category at the 8th edition of the Italian, International competition - 7 virtual jazz club contest, 2023. Working on their first album after many concerts around Israel in festivals such as Jerusalem Arts Festival and considered venues such as Beit Haamudim. The band has been active in the last 5 years and is based in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

The music contains multi-layers elements including polyphonic melodies and polyrhythms which make it very interesting. Though complicated the music contains captivating melodies.

Sandia is comprised of three talented musicians with distinct musical backgrounds, the band was formed serendipitously when they met at a local jam session. Dekel Epstein, the saxophonist, traveled extensively in South America and was inspired to compose music that reflected his worldly experiences. He then decided to pursue a career in music and attended a prestigious music education institution in Israel.

In his quest to form a band to play this music, Epstein recruited drummer Shany Dar and pianist Shauli Shoub. Together, the trio quickly discovered a unique chemistry and began building a fan base and working on their debut album.

Dekel Epstein is a saxophonist, composer, pianist and a producer. Has a first degree in jazz performing from the Jerusalem Academi of Music and Dance including 2 years in Tel Aviv at “Shtriker Jazz Program” in collaboration with the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC.

Shauli Shoub is a Classical Jazz trained pianist, composer, producer and a vocalist. Has a large music education such as multiple instrument training. As a child he won several classic piano competitions and performed in some of the most considered venues in Israel. Also member at the Hip-Hop duo paper.planez.

Shany Dar is a jazz and classical trained drummer / percussionist. Studied 2 years in Tel Aviv at “Shtriker Jazz Program” in collaboration with the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC. He has a diverse background and experience such as participating in jazz and latin ensembles, as well as a percussionist in classical orchestra.
