Prawit Siriwat

Prawit Siriwat is a guitarist, composer, and educator whose music moves between jazz, folk, acoustic music, and improvisation. Whether playing solo or with longtime collaborators, his work is shaped by patience, deep listening, and an interest in the space between composition and spontaneous interaction.

Let’s Play Sometime, a new EP created with bassist Daniel Durst, reflects a musical friendship spanning 15 years. Siriwat and Durst first began playing together in casual dorm room sessions and have since developed a duo language built on trust and interplay. Featuring three Siriwat compositions and an interpretation of “Moon River,” the record draws from jazz, folk, acoustic music, and free improvisation while allowing the boundaries between soloist and accompanist to dissolve. The EP will be released October 30, 2026.

That conversational approach also runs through Siriwat’s broader body of work. His solo EP Nature Walk explores the intimate possibilities of acoustic fingerstyle guitar, emphasizing melody, tone, rhythmic space, and the natural movement between written material and improvisation. His trio album Blueberry, recorded with Durst on electric bass and Abel Tabares on drums, reveals another side of his musical voice, moving between electric grooves, open improvisation, and quieter lyrical passages.

Across these settings, Siriwat is less interested in genre boundaries than in creating music that feels alive in the moment. His playing draws on the language of jazz and folk traditions while using improvisation as a way of connecting composition, interpretation, and personal expression.

Siriwat holds a BFA from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he studied with Steve Cardenas, Julian Lage, and Jane Ira Bloom, and a Master’s in Jazz Studies from New York University. He has also taught as an Adjunct Instructor at NYU, working with undergraduate guitarists in private study and improvisation.

As a performer and collaborator, Siriwat has worked with artists including Del Water Gap, Ruby Greenberg, and RVBY MY DEAR, and has performed at venues including National Sawdust, Pete’s Candy Store, The Stone, and Bar Next Door. Now based in New York, he continues to develop music for solo guitar and small ensembles, exploring improvisation as a living practice built through curiosity, trust, and listening.
