Rosa Brunello
Rosa Brunello is an acclaimed Italian composer, bassist, and double bassist with eight albums to her name. Known for her versatile artistry that bridges free improvisation, electric rock, dub, South American and West Asian influences, she transcends genre boundaries, embodying her motto of “music without borders.”
Her distinctive musical voice took shape through formative years of study and performance in Berlin, Paris, and Amsterdam, further refined by her extensive global touring. A curious and adventurous traveler, Rosa gravitates toward unconventional paths, having performed across South America, Japan, Canada, Egypt, Senegal and Europe.
Along her travels, she collaborates with influential artists such as jazz icon NEA Jazz Master and multiple Grammy winner Dee Dee Bridgewater (as part of the vocalist’s live band), visionary Egyptian producer Maurice Louca (Fera Quartet and Elephantine), British-Arabic star Yazz Ahmed, eclectic drummer-producer Tommaso Cappellato and saxophonist/composer and multi-wind instrumentalist Tamar Osborn.
In 2022, Rosa released Sounds Like Freedom with the Los Angeles-based label Domanda Music, followed by Senseless Acts of Love (May 6, 2024), featuring Yazz Ahmed, Tamar Osborn, Luca Tapino, Enrico Terragnoli, Maurice Louca, and Marco Frattini. In May 2026, she presents We Are Surging Waters, her new studio album celebrating collective movements and grassroots solidarity, recorded in June 2025 with extraordinary ensemble synergy, and marking a new peak in her multicultural, participatory artistic vision.
When not touring with her own project, Rosa is usually on tour in Europe with Dee Dee Bridgewater’s quartet We Exist!, Maurice Louca’s Fera quartet, Yazz Ahmed’s group, Tamar Osborn’s group, or Maryam Saleh’s new live band.
Her work has gained international recognition, receiving airplay on prestigious platforms like Worldwide FM, NTS Radio, Bandcamp Weekly, and more.
