Tim Daisy
Tim Daisy is a Chicago-based drummer, composer, and educator renowned for his contributions to both improvised and composed music. Since landing in Chicago in 1997, he has actively engaged with the city’s vibrant creative music scene, performing, recording, and touring with numerous esteemed musicians and ensembles.
Primarily self-taught on drums, marimba, and vibraphone, Daisy has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Ken Vandermark, Jeb Bishop, Fred Lonberg-Holm, James Falzone, Dave Rempis, Steve Swell, Jamie Branch, John Tchicai, Mars Williams, Joe McPhee, Katherine Young, Michael Zerang, and Frank Rosaly.
In 2011, he founded Relay Records, an artist-run label that documents much of his creative work both locally and internationally. Beyond performance and recording, Daisy has composed original pieces for modern dance, sound installations, documentary films, and podcasts, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
His discography includes collaborations with international artists such as Mikołaj Trzaska, Per Åke Holmlander, and Aram Shelton. Daisy’s innovative approach to composition and performance continues to influence and enrich the contemporary music landscape.
