Greg Englert
Greg is an award winning mutiple number 1 on-line jazz chart and top 20 rock/pop/easylistening on-line chart composer, musician and recording artist. He is based in Sydney Australia and performs with most of the top Jazz Bands and Sydney 80's covers band 'Glory Daze'.
From his beginning on Trumpet with Sydney Dixieland Jazz Bands and Swing Big Bands, Greg has gone on to work with most major jazz bands in Sydney including the legendary Ricky May, Bob Barnard and Dave Dallwitz. He has also supported and backed legends such as KC & the Sunshine Band, The Harlem Globetrotters, Jackie Trent & Tony Hatch (Neighbours, everybody needs good neighbours....), The Deltones, Doug Parkinson, Brian Cadd, Jackie Love (legs!!!!) etc.
A highlight in Greg's early career was when Sammy Davis Jnr wandered into the bar he was playing with his band and sat in for a memorable "Birth of the Blues".
After playing trumpet in several top sydney Rock Brass Sections Greg decided to take up guitar and is now performing both jazz and rock guitar under the guidance and mentorship of the legendary studio guitarist Carmine D'Amico from Las Vegas and more recently the absolute legend Carol Kaye.
Greg's compositions in jazz, rock, pop and easy listening genres have won awards in 1998 for the South Pacific International Song Comtest and 2009 with The Song of the year competition. His compositions have also been performed on Film and TV.. He has countless international film soundtrack awards for his 2 shorts films about his World War I and World War II amcestors.
