Satish Robertson
Satish Robertson is a multifaceted trumpeter, composer, and producer whose powerful and soulful sound resonates across a spectrum of musical genres, from jazz and gospel to hip-hop, R&B, funk, electronica, and blues. As a critic wrote concerning Satish's performances at the 2025 Krakow Summer Jazz Fest: "His playing is characterized by fire, sophistication, and unpredictability."
A Jersey City native now residing in Brooklyn, Satish’s musical journey began with the piano, but he was ultimately captivated by the trumpet, upon hearing the music of Miles Davis. His talent was honed under the guidance of renowned musicians such as late trumpeters Rob Henke, and Ted Curson, as well as Vinnie Cutro, Ryo Sasaki, Jeremy Pelt, and Dr. Eddie Henderson, leading him to develop a distinct and bold voice on his instrument.
Throughout his career, Satish has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including jazz masters James Carter, Kahlil Kwame Bell, and Salim Washington, R&B icon Meli’sa Morgan and hip-hop artists such as Ace Clark, Skyzoo, and Reg Wynz. Satish also leads numerous dynamic jazz groups of his own.
In 2024 he toured Europe with James Carter in a special tribute to Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and shortly after, joined forces with Polish jazz-fusion group Groovosophers. This collaboration began with Satish recording on their debut album and then joining them as special guest on two critically acclaimed European tours in 2025. A live album culled from their second tour is forthcoming.
Most recently Satish played with the legendary funk outfit Fatback Band aboard the 2026 Soul Train Cruise.
In between it all, Satish works on composing and recording original music that blends his soaring trumpet work with his own imaginative writing and production.
His self-produced 2020 release 80's Joint: The Album blended jazz improv with an innovative reimagining of 80’s pop, rock, funk, and new wave sounds.
More recently he kicked off 2026 with the release of a new single "One For Jamal". The piece is a tribute to a late friend, and features Satish pulling triple duty as trumpeter, composer, and hip-hop producer - weaving golden toned trumpet vignettes on top of a hypnotic boom-bap soundscape of his own design.
