Q Morrow
What sets him apart from other world musicians is the fact that his interest in music is spiritual, not technical. To Q, music is an offering. Growing up in Caldwell, Idaho, a suburb of Boise provided Q with ample practice time. He honed his early songwriting skills with early bands before moving to California at age 18. There he studied music in Santa Cruz at Cabrillo College before attending the prestigious University of North Texas's Jazz Program in 2003. He then spent a year studying Carnatic music in Bangalore, India with Veena Maestro Jayanthi Kumaresh.
Q has settled in Brooklyn, NY and is an active part of the rich music scene.

The homogenous instrumentation and production furthermore add to the euphony of the record. This cohesiveness however doesn't mean that New York-based guitarist Q Morrow's writing and performance don't demand the listeners' full ...

by James Fleming
Like America, the ideas are good. And just like the USA, they are lost in translation, from concept to being. Q Morrow's There Are Stars In Brooklyn combines jazz with Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and Carnatic music. It is the product of a curious mind and an interconnected world, specifically of the United States, where different peoples, cultures, and musics are accessible to the enlightened who seek them out. However, there are post-surgery scars on this splicing of styles, where the ideas ...

The forthcoming sophomore album, Get Us Out Of Fearland , due June 15, builds upon the multicultural exuberance that made the band’s debut, Very Next Thing, a transcendent breath of fresh air.
