Release by Michel Freidenson

Considered one of the great pianists of Brazil, Michel Freidenson is a composer, producer, keyboardist, and arranger. Founder of the legendary instrumental group "ZonaAzul," he participated in the effervescence of the Brazilian instrumental movement in the 80s.

Throughout his career, Michel has recorded and participated in shows in Brazil and around the world with great artists such as: Hermeto Pascoal (deceased), Luiz Millan, Djavan, Ivan Lins, Tim Maia (deceased), Filó Machado, Ana Caram, Márcio Montarroyos (deceased), Fafá de Belém, Bocato, Edu Santhana, Léa Freire, Teco Cardoso, Duda Neves, Lô Borges, Raul de Souza, Jane Duboc, Leny de Andrade, Badi Assad, Celso Pixinga, Corciolli, Thijs Van Leer and Bobby Jacobs from the Dutch progressive rock band "Focus," among many others, in addition to having international recognition with his "Michel Freidenson Trio." At age 5 he began playing the guitar. At age 6 he started playing the piano, with guidance from Professor Arlete Ognibene who allowed him "freedom" to create, compose, and have fun according to the inspiration of the moment. Simultaneously, he had the guidance of a great Master, Roberto Ribeiro de Souza (deceased), the guitar professor who taught him music and its transformative power, teaching him to listen to music, perceiving the paths of sounds, intentions, and arrangements, independent of sheet music. At age 14, Michel attended Clam - Centro Livre de Aprendizagem Musical (Free Center for Musical Learning), run by the Zimbo Trio.

After participating as a producer, musician, and arranger on more than 250 CDs, Michel
recorded the international albums "Eletrobossa," "Eletrobossa Nights," and "Jazzis" on commission for the Azul Music label—licensed in the USA, Europe, and Asia—and considered a landmark in the "Lounge Music" style in Brazil.

Michel was a finalist in the world jazz pianist competition, the “Martial Solal International Jazz Piano Competition” held in Paris in 1983.

Michel participated in many jazz festivals, notably the “Aruba Jazz Festival” with Djavan, the “Free Jazz Festival” with Zonazul, the “Itajaí Jazz Festival” (2003 and 2005), the “Joinville Jazz Festival” (2002), and “Jazz do Brasil” (2004) at Tom Brasil – SP with the “Michel Freidenson Jazz Quartet”, the Santos Jazz Festival in Santos (2013), the “Na Roda” project at the Bourbon Street Music Club in SP (2012), among many others.

In July 2004, Michel Freidenson participated with enormous success in the world's largest indoor jazz festival, the "North Sea Jazz Festival," held in The Hague, Netherlands, with his "Michel Freidenson Jazz Quartet" (Special participation by Márcio Montarroyos i.m.).
